Tangerang, December 16, 2025 — President Prabowo Subianto highlighted disaster response efforts in several regions during a limited cabinet meeting in Jakarta. He called for faster recovery of energy infrastructure affected by natural disasters while also urging greater national preparedness amid the ongoing rainy season.
During the meeting, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia reported that the recovery process continues to face challenges on the ground. He noted that access to several disaster-hit locations remains difficult, slowing the delivery of equipment and the restoration of electricity networks.
Bahlil explained that the government is accelerating recovery measures through cross-agency coordination and the deployment of technical teams to affected areas. He emphasized that restoring energy supply remains a top priority so that community activities can return to normal as quickly as possible.
President Prabowo stressed the importance of inter-agency collaboration to ensure that recovery efforts are carried out swiftly and effectively. He underlined that basic public services, particularly energy supply, should not be disrupted for prolonged periods due to natural disasters.
Beyond the energy sector, the President also reminded regional governments to remain alert to the possibility of secondary disasters. He called for regular updates to disaster-prone area mapping and the optimization of early warning systems to reduce risks to the public. The central government, he said, will continue to support regional administrations through funding and cross-ministerial coordination.
Observers noted that the President’s emphasis reflects the government’s efforts to integrate disaster management with broader infrastructure and economic recovery strategies. The focus extends beyond emergency response to strengthening community resilience in the face of extreme weather conditions toward the end of the year.
