INDONESIAN STUDENT EMBARKS ON INTERNATIONAL KKN IN THAILAND

Tangerang, May 14, 2025 – The opportunity to participate in an international community service program (KKN) has become a special moment for Elsa, a student of the English Education Program. With enthusiasm, she shared her motivations, preparations, and high hopes as she embarks on this journey.

Elsa revealed her strong reasons for joining the international KKN program. She sees this as a golden opportunity to learn directly from an international community and to understand Thailand's rich and unique culture.

“Apart from deepening my understanding of their way of life, I also want to share Indonesian culture. This is a great chance to expand my network and witness how cross-cultural collaboration can create positive impacts,” she explained.

In preparing for her departure, Elsa showed her commitment by learning basic Thai, familiarizing herself with local customs, and gathering detailed information about her future living area. These steps were taken to ensure she could contribute to the fullest during the program.

For Elsa, however, success in this program does not rely solely on technical preparations. Adaptability is also a key factor.

“I believe that respecting and learning from the local community is the best way to adapt. By respecting their customs, such as communication styles, manners, and food, I hope to build good relationships with the local people,” she said.

In addition to technical and mental preparations, Elsa holds high hopes for this experience. She aims to learn how Thai communities address various social challenges. Moreover, she aspires to become a cultural bridge that strengthens ties between Indonesia and Thailand.

This program is also seen as a valuable opportunity for personal growth.

“I am confident that this experience will make me more independent, tolerant, and open-minded. Academically, I aim to apply what I have learned in class to real-world activities, such as conducting training or assisting the local community,” she added.

Nonetheless, Elsa is aware of the challenges she might face. Language and cultural differences are among the anticipated hurdles, as well as adapting to rural lifestyles that differ from her daily life in Indonesia.

“However, I am optimistic that with an open mind and learning from the local community, I can overcome all these challenges,” she stated confidently.

With enthusiasm and thorough preparation, Elsa is ready to embark on this international KKN program. Her experience is expected not only to enrich her personally and academically but also to bring positive impacts to the local community in Thailand. This program serves as a tangible effort to strengthen ties between nations through inspiring and meaningful interactions.
